Madison's Hair

So Madison hates to be bothered. She doesn't like her face or hands wiped, she absolutely hates getting her diaper changed, she loves the bath, but hates the cleaning up part, and getting dressed is quite a chore. I think it goes without saying that when it's time to do hair...we struggle. Remember how I said that we are both a little bit stubborn and we both want things done how we want things done? This is probably our biggest fight. See if Madison had her way she would wake up with her crazy hair...eat breakfast and get it stuck to her face every morning and consider it done. Obviously I have a different opinion on the matter. And this one is a battle I won't lose.

Right now this is the style of choice. Madison is everywhere so I like her hair to be out of her face and tight so it will stay in for most of the day. It's actually really cute on her when it's done.

I've tried a lot of ways to try to get Madison to sit still so I can do her hair...but I've found that the best way is the bribe...

See we're both happy, she has a chocolate brownie and I have hair done tight and out of the face...by the way mom, again I'm sorry for ever putting you through the same fights. The End. :)

Funny People

So last Saturday my friend Missy and I took our kids to the Main Street splash park to enjoy the nice weather. I got there a little before her so I just sat down and let Madison start playing in the stream (she loves "wager" (water) by the way). There was a funny family sitting across the stream from me and when they saw Madison they asked me, "Is she seriously walking by herself?" I said, "Yes she is." Obviously she was...anyway...they were like "Holy cow how old is she? She's the same size as our 8 month old." Which, sadly enough, she really was the same size as their 8 month old. I told them her age and then they asked the most odd question I've ever gotten, "Is her daddy dark?" I honestly was speechless. I mean obviously her daddy isn't dark. She's a white child! I was like, "Well, no." and they said, "Oh she just has such a dark complexion." It was so funny! I mean first of all I don't think I would ever ask that question to someone even if I didn't know the answer, but she doesn't even look like a black child, or mexican, or whatever they were thinking. I just think some people are so funny and I thought I would share...seriously, "Is her daddy dark?"

More Applesauce Please!

I needed to give Madison a bath this morning anyway so I thought I would let her try to eat some applesauce by herself with her spoon (she loves using a "poon"). I don't think it was such a good idea...

Madison Update

This week has been a bit better with Madison than last week was. She isn't throwing as many fits and I feel like they aren't as bad either which I am so grateful for. Hopefully it was just a bad week and I never have to experience it again (at least until the next child.) But anyway, I thought I would post about some of the fun things she has been doing lately.

For a while now Madison would freak out anytime I put her in a baby swing and want to get down which was weird because she always liked to swing, but I didn't realize that the reason was because she wanted to swing in the big girl swing. One day at work, my boss Jill took the kids out to her backyard swingset and was playing with them. She called me out and told me I needed to come see what Madison was doing. This is what I found. Garret was swinging on the swing and she wanted to also, and she has loved to ever since.

She likes to sit on it, but if I push even just slightly she gets upset, she's getting better, but she doesn't really want to swing just sit there and be big. It's so funny, I think she thinks she's 14 or something.

Monday night for FHE my family decided to go to the main street splash park because the weather has been so nice lately. It was so fun and the kids were so excited to get wet after a long winter of no water. It was a little windy so Madison got a little chilly and he legs were freezing from standing in the water. So my dad took his shoes and socks off and put them on her for leg warmers, it was so funny looking, but it really did work. She loved the water so much that I think I might give in and get my pool key so we can swim in the pool this summer when it gets unbearably hot. Anyway, that's a little of what she's been up to lately.

Terrible 16 months?

If two weeks ago someone had told me that I would have a screaming, fit throwing, nasty child at this time I would have laughed in their face. No, not my sweet little girl who had, for quite sometime, decided that she was a mommas girl, gave hugs and kisses regularly, sat and read books with me, and was such a joy to be around. But it has happened. My sweet angel has changed overnight into something that I have never seen before. Let me start off by saying I love this little girl with all my heart...but I need to get some frustration out...so read on if you must. MADISON IS DRIVING ME NUTS! There I feel a little better now. Where Madison used to give me kisses and hugs, she now hits and kicks me. She used to enjoy reading books with me or playing babies, now she just screams, yes SCREAMS, if it's not done the exact way that she wants it to be done (and by the way I still don't know how that is). If she doesn't get something she wants she literally throws herself on the ground rolling, kicking, and screaming at the top of her lungs until she gets it, which if you know me very well doesn't happen so she ends up in her room in her bed kicking and screaming until she finally calms herself down or falls asleep. This happened 5 times before lunchtime on Wednesday! I'm not kidding. Now I know that I am stubborn and I want things my way and I want control of certain things in my life. It has been clear since Madison was born that we would clash in that area because she is the same way, but I had no idea it would be this bad. All I can say is that I hope it doesn't last long...please don't let it last long!

Whats new...;)

So obviously this...

is probably the biggest news! We're pregnant! I think I'm about 7 weeks along so not very far, but I have been pretty sick. Not as sick as I was with Madison...I can actually stand up, haha, but it's hard being pregnant and chasing around a 15 month old. But I've finally gotten a perscription from the doctor and I'm feeling much better with my good friend Zofran :) Anyway so this baby and Madison will be about 23 months apart. I may be crazy but we are so so excited to have another baby!

In more news, my amazing husband has started school up again. He started a communications program at the beginning of March and he is doing awesome! I just have to tell you how awesome he is for a minute...every Tuesday night he goes to 4 hours of class and then every other night of the week he studies for, seriously, at least 3 hours to keep up with this class. Then on top of that I have been sick so he has been doing the dishes, laundry, cooking, taking care of Madison and Charlie, and taking care of his throwing up wife all at the same time all without complaint. I am so appreciative of him and all he does. On top of all that, he has been getting 100% on his discussions and papers for this class too. What an amazing guy! Don't know what I would do without him.

And then this little girl is 15 months old! Can you believe it? Seriously. We went to the doctor the other day and here are her stats.

15 lbs. 15 oz. (yep still haven't made it over 16)

29 inches long

and I don't remember her head...just know it's small too.

So has she grown? No not really...her pants are getting short, but they keep falling down so she is getting taller, but she's not putting on weight, so if it's possible she's getting skinnier...but she still eats like a horse. But whatever she's happy and healthy and doing just fine!

Here are some things about Madison at 15 months:

-She has fully mastered the stairs and goes up and down all day all by herself.

-She is talking so much...I could put all the words, but theres too many. There was a week that she learned like 20 new ones.

-She loves anything cheese. Cheese crackers, cheese sticks, cheese sandwiches, cheese anything.

-She used to be such a daddy's girl, but now she wants mommy again! Hallelujah!

-I've noticed a little bit more separation anxiety in the past couple weeks.

-Still loves to dance.

-Still loves being outside.

-Only 3 more months until nursery!!!! Hooray!!!!

So I guess that's all really that's new with us, until next time.

California Trip

I know it has been so long since I've last updated my blog and my excuse is going to be the same as always we have just been extremely busy! But I'm updating now so no worries! So last week Alan and I met his sister Alison and her her family down in California to go to Disneyland and the beach. It was a blast! I'm so glad we took the little break and went down we seriously needed it!

Alan and Madison waitin in line to go on one of the rides. Madison wasn't too sure about riding the rides at first, but she warmed up to the idea. I think if she was another year older she would've loved it.

Standing in front of the castle went it was lit up at night. At the end of the night we stayed and watched the fireworks and that was seriously an awesome show.

We had so much fun at Disneyland. It was Alan's first time ever going and I haven't been since I was like 12 so we were stoked to be able to go. It was a perfect day, it was supposed to rain so not a lot of people showed up in the morning and we walked onto most of the rides. The weather turned out to be so nice.

On our second day we decided to go to the beach. We had a hard time deciding which one to go to and finally went to Santa Monica Pier which was beautiful. The weather was amazing! It was sunny and 62! So beautiful!

The water was a little cold, but we got used to it fast. Madison loved the waves. She would have watched them forever. We had fun looking for sea shells with the boys and playing in the water.

This is what your child ends up looking like at the beach if she falls in the water...that's right...she was soaked. That was so fun! HA!

And then when we went to get some lunch at hot dog on a stick this is who was in front of us in line...Crystal Bowersox from American Idol! Haha I was like oh my gosh Alan that girl is on American Idol and he asked her if I could get a picture with her! How awesome is that? Go to LA and meet a star! I was seriously starstruck.

Anyway, the trip was so much fun! We decided we need to make it an annual tradition with Matt and Ali! Thank you guys for inviting us and sharing your vacation with us!
